Sea Kayaking the Central Coast's Great Bear Rainforest 8 Day Kayak ToursIn true expedition style, these eight day trips explore the central coast across the inside passage from Vancouver Island. Also called the ‘Great Bear Rainforest’, it is one of the few pristine temperate rainforests left in the world.This rugged and challenging coast has a fearsome reputation. To the north lies Cape Caution, the only area of the mainland coast to be exposed to open ocean, and just south is Nakwakto Rapids – one of the world’s fastest navigable tidal rapids. Coached by our experienced guides, these challenges are safely managed. Other highlights include the three-mile sandy expanse of Burnett Bay, feeding Gray whales, and the true feeling of isolation – we rarely see other kayakers on this trip. This is our most challenging tour and thus we require participants to have prior kayaking experience. As these tours are more expeditionary in nature, we operate as a smaller group (six guests, two guides), paddle longer each day, and leave the itinerary flexible to deal with the dynamic environment we will be traveling in.
