Orca Adoptions

This past year we  adopted A-54 Blinkhorn, a member of the A-30 pod of northern resident orcas that we see a lot of during our Johnstone Strait tours. For those of you have been on our Johnstone Strait trips in the past you will remember Blinkhorn is also the name of the Peninsula close to Telegraph Cove.

Blinkhorn is the mother of a young orca, A-75, that was born in 2001 and many of you may remember the little orca we often saw this past summer breaking the surface as if she couldn't tell where the water stopped and the air started. The first 2 years have a high mortality rate among orcas but we hope to see this young one again this year and if she does show up she will also be available for adoption. The money raised through adoptions is used for research and education. To adopt your own orca please visit  http://www.killerwhale.org/index2.htm and for more information on whales in general visit  www.wildwhales.org
